I know a market display sounds so intimidating! But trust me, it’s a lot of fun! In this blog I’m going to explain my exact process of setting up a pop-up shop including a display tactic I do that has proven to increase sales in businesses by up to 20%!
You can watch the Youtube video here:
TIP: I HIGHLY recommended practicing your set up before your first market! This way you know about how long the display will take, and how early you need to get there! Plus you won’t be frantically trying to set up your first display with no experience.
Let’s not overcomplicate it! Here is my exact streamlined process of setting up markets:
1. Unload your car(s)!
You may be tempted to start setting up while unloading, but trust me! You’ll save so much time if you unload all at once, re-park your car, then come back to set up!
2. Set up your canopy!
A canopy is going to show you exactly how much space you have for your display, & really is the structure of your pop-up shop! Have a friend help you, or a vendor neighbor to save time setting up your canopy! (you can help them set up theirs too!)
3. Set up large display items!
These are things like your tables, large shelves, pegboard, banner etc. Anything big that takes up a lot of space! Determine where you are going to sit with your checkout stand, then work out from there. If I can, I love doing multiple entrances & exits at my market! This creates a more open & approachable feel, so your customers feel more comfortable walking in & shopping.
4. Add smaller display items!
These are things like: risers, crates, buckets, baskets, and manikins! Keep these in a separate container than our product & take out all of these before taking out the product! You can always change stuff around once you get the product out, but it’s good to get an idea of what you’re going to be displaying where
5. Add your product!
Now for the super fun (but most time consuming) part of setting up– adding your creations! I like to keep mine in sections, by color & size! I like keeping some of my smaller & lower price point options towards the front on a pegboard.
TIP: If you have extra product, keep it in a bin under your tables! You can restock during your market as needed.
6. Add your signage!
Pricing signage, social media signage, & sizing signage are all signs I love to use! Would you like another blog/Youtube all about signage? Let me know! 🙂
7. Add your decor!
These are things that just add a little bit of visual interest to your display & look cohesive with your display! I love using floral & greenery to decorate!
7. Add a best sellers Display!
Add a small table up at the front with some of your best sellers (bonus! Add a sign that says “best sellers” on the table). Keeping these items up at the front on a pretty display has proven to increase sellers sales up to 20%! So don’t skip this step! 🙂
9. Finishing touches!
Walk around your booth and add more visual interest where you can! Hanging items front your canopy or propping up more products. Sometimes it’s these final finishing touches that help draw in more customers.
10. Finished!
Yesssss! Pat yourself on the back, girl! You’re all set up & ready to sell your adorable creations! 🙂
