Are you familiar with the feeling of finishing a project and realizing you have tiny bits of yarn left that are not enough for a full project, but you can’t bear to throw them away? If you’re like me, you hate seeing your precious yarn go to waste. But fear not! In this blog post, I’m going to share with you my favorite scrap busting project that not only helps you use up those yarn scraps, but can also be sold at craft shows too!
Currently, I’m participating in a 30-day yarn cleanse, trying to use up my current yarn stash, and that’s when I realized how many tiny bits of yarn I had left. They were too small to make a full project, but too valuable to throw away. This is a fun and easy project to turn those yarn scraps into something useful and beautiful.
So, let’s get started with the materials you’ll need:
Materials
💕 Yarn (any scrap yarn you have laying around!) In today’s video I’m using some Bernant Velvet! shorturl.at/adoTZ

💕 Wooden Beads (Here’s a pack with.a variety of sizes on Amazon — you can also get the at Joanns and use a coupon!) https://amzn.to/3KANyTT

Now, let’s dive into the step-by-step process of creating this scrap busting project:
Creating the Tassel
Start by selecting the yarn scraps you want to use for your tassel. You can mix and match different colors and textures to create a unique and eye-catching tassel. Take one of the yarn scraps and wrap it around your fingers or a small piece of cardboard to create a loop. Repeat this process with the other yarn scraps, making sure they are tightly wrapped.
Next, cut the loops on one end to create the fringe of the tassel. You can trim the fringe to your desired length. Once you’re satisfied with the length, gather the yarn scraps at the top and tie a separate piece of yarn tightly around them to secure the tassel. Trim the ends of the securing yarn to make it neat and tidy.
Adding the Beads
Now it’s time to add some beads to your tassel for an extra touch of charm. Take a wooden bead and thread it onto the yarn that you used to secure the top of the tassel. Slide the bead down until it rests on top of the tassel. You can add more beads if you like, experimenting with different colors and sizes to create your desired look.
Attaching the Tassel
Next, take one of your keychain clasps. Thread the yarn through the keychain. Your tassel is now attached to the keychain clasp! Thread back through the beads to secure.
Finishing Off
To finish off your scrap busting project, trim any excess yarn from the top of the tassel to make it neat and clean. You can also trim the fringe of the tassel to your desired length, making sure it’s even and tidy.
And there you have it! Your scrap busting project is complete. You now have a beautiful and unique keychain made from your yarn scraps that can be used as a stylish accessory for your keys, bags, or even as a decoration for your crochet projects. Plus, if you’re looking to sell your crafts at craft shows, these yarn scrap keychains can be a hit as they are eco-friendly and handmade with love!
